Who says you can't have chocolate for breakfast?

These energy bars from the Fit Retreat kitchen are not only delicious, super easy to make and packed full of energy, they are a perfect pre-workout snack !

Packed full of good carbohydrates, fats, proteins, fibre and healthy natural sweetness you really can't go wrong.

Although the energy bars are divine and you won't be able to stop eating them, I do only recommend between 1-2 for a pre-workout snack. Once you have made a batch you can seal these in a container and they will last for a couple of weeks in the refrigerator.

I love coming up with different healthy and yummy ideas in the kitchen and there will be lots more quick and simple recipes to come.. But for now try making these bad boys :)

 Makes between 10-12

  • 3 cups of spelt puffs
  • 1 cup rye flacks (they look like giant oats)
  • 300g good quality peanut butter
  • Half a cup agave syrup (or honey)
  • 120g cranberries (chopped or whole)
  • 300g dark chocolate (I use 85%)

Put the puffs and rye flakes in to a bowl, melt together peanut butter and agave syrup in microwave for 1 minute or until nicely melted. Pour in the bowl add cranberries and stir together.
