HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?

T.F.R. cater for all fitness levels providing adaptions when needed, we treat everyone as an individuals. The trainers will be there to demonstrate all exercises and the adaptions before beginning.

WHO ARE THE WORKOUTS DESIGNED FOR?

Everyone in good health.

 We are big believers in fitting a healthy lifestyle round a busy life. The group workouts at T.F.R are mostly timed group circuits In this mode of training, it is about how much you can do as an individual, someone with relatively low levels of fitness can train alongside someone of high levels of fitness. It is the effort of the individual that counts.

WILL I LEARN ANYTHING? 

T.F.R. wants to provide as much information and answer any questions they can during your week. All of our exercises will combine bodyweight and functional equipment. When you arrive home from T.F.R., we hope that you will have improved knowledge about living a healthier lifestyle and a variety of different types of exercises, so you will be able to keep up the good work.

Our aim is to try and give you exercises that you can do at home, and if you do not own any equipment, the body weight exercises will be great. Workouts may be longer at T.F.R. but can easily be shortened to quick 15-30min workouts. Adaptation is the key, and it will be perfect for people that lead busy lives at home. T.F.R. gives you advice and tips on cooking healthy meals, snacks and additional dietary advise that can help you improve your lifestyle.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE FIT RETREAT? 

T.F.R. is more of a personal retreat experience due to the fact that the maximum occupancy is 7 guests. Our guests will have the benefits of more of a personal training approach, and we also like to get to know our guests and make sure that their stay is what they imagined. We are NOT a boot-camp, we are a fitness and wellbeing Retreat. We want our guests to experience a week of working/training hard, but also to let the body repair and recover. We provide different varieties of exercise, hiking, yoga and pilates so your body will also need time to relax

HOW MANY GUESTS WILL BE STAYING AT THE FIT RETREAT?

There will only ever be a maximum of 7 guests at one time staying at the retreat.

CAN I SELF CATER?

T.F.R. offers x5 breakfasts, x5 brunches and x5 evening meals. For the x1 Brunch and x2 evenings that they are not included, (although we always leave out oats, dried fruit, nuts etc) it’s your choice whether you would want to dine in or out. Guests will have full use of the Retreat’s fully equipped kitchen and bbq area, and if you wanted to dine out, we are a 5-10 minute stroll to Lajares village where there are lots of lovely, but affordable, restaurants in the village. If you are dining in, we ask that you always clean up after yourself.

DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL OF THE ACTIVITES?

No, not at all. T.F.R. has designed the workouts/activities to be as beneficial towards your health, fitness and relaxation needs as possible. If a guest feels like they need to sit out at any time, that’s completely fine. It's your choice and prerogative.

At T.F.R our hope is to inspire, motivate and educate our guests, so that when they return to their everyday lives they feel energised and refreshed. T.F.R. will not make you do anything you do not want to do.

WILL I HAVE ANY FREE/RELAX TIME?

Yes, of course. T.F.R. is a wellbeing retreat and we believe in recuperation & relaxation, as well as working and training hard. You have an hour or so between the morning workouts and afternoon activities, and a few of the afternoons we will finish between 16:00-17:00, so you will have the rest of the late afternoon to yourselves. Additionally, you get one full day of rest/you time.

We include yoga sessions and a full body massage, which will not only relax the body but the mind too. You will have full use of the villa facilities including swimming pool , Jacuzzi, sun loungers, chillout areas and the reading lounge area inside the retreat. If you wish to explore the island, you will need to hire a car (see, do I need car hire).

WILL I NEED TO BRING ANTHING WITH ME?

When you have booked to stay with us at The Fit Retreat, you will automatically receive a recommended kit list of things to bring , all of which will be essential for your stay at The Fit Retreat.

CAN I ATTEND IF I HAVE ANY EXISTING OR PRE-EXISTING INJURIES/MEDICAL PROBLEMS?

Upon booking your stay at The Fit Retreat, we will ask you if you are in good health and well enough to perform activities. You will also receive a Medical Declaration form to fill in after booking. Some of our guests may have minor medical problems or pre-existing injuries, (asthma, high/low blood pressure, diabetes, back or joint problems) As long as T.F.R. is made aware of any problems and your GP gives the all clear, then they can accommodate accordingly. T.F.R. will not be liable if a guests books with an underlining medical problem that has not been declared on their medical form.

WHAT IF I INJURE MYSELF WHILST AT THE FIT RETREAT? 

We will be trying our upmost to prevent any accidents or injuries. Our workouts are designed to be safe, effective and to minimise any risks that may occur.  The trainers are level 2 first aid qualified and will be able to deal with any minor injuries. In an emergency, an ambulance will be called immediately. T.F.R. highly recommends travel insurance. Participating in exercise and hikes is challenging, and you need to be adequately covered.  

DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE TO COME TO THE RETREAT?

As stated above, we HIGHLY recommend travel insurance, especially for a holiday that involves fitness and activities. We cannot make our guests get travel insurance, but we hold no responsibility for any problems that might arise from not being covered. 

CAN I SMOKE OR DRINK ALCOHOL AT THE FIT RETREAT?

T.F.R want you to enjoy yourself, and if you like the odd tipple, then that is fine with us. We do expect our guests to drink in moderation and be respectful of the other guests. If you do get drunk and become aggressive or disrespectful, we may ask you to leave. There will be a designated smoking area outside, but there will be NO smoking inside the retreat, bedrooms or anywhere other than the smoking area.

SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT TRAINING IN THE HEAT?

Fuerteventura is one of the lucky places which has year round sun. In the summer months, it gets especially hot. Our workouts are mainly in the mornings, which is the coolest part of day. Afternoon hikes will be in the middle of the day, and that’s why we ask you to bring hats, high factor sun cream, and why we make sure you drink plenty of water. If at anytime you feel it is too hot and you cannot continue, T.F.R. will make sure you drink plenty of water and that you cool your body down and reduce your heart rate slowly and safely before you stop exercising. We are here to help. 

DO I NEED TRANSFERS TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT? 

Some retreats’ transfers are included. If they are not included, there are many different ways you can transfer to and from the airport. Here are our recommendations.

Car hire - pick up/return from the airport options (Google car hire Fuerteventura airport)

. Taxi (approximately €55 each way)

DO I NEED CAR HIRE?

This not essential. If you have access to your own hire car, you will have the freedom to explore what Fuerteventura has to offer at your own leisure . The retreat is located 10 minutes drive from three different coast lines with amazing beaches, and 10-12 mins from the main town in the north of the island, Corralejo. As you will get a whole day off and most evenings, we do recommend you hire a car.

WHAT ARE THE CANCELLATION AND DEPOSIT CHARGES?

At the time of booking, 50% will be paid via bank transfer to The Fit Retreat ltd. You will receive a booking invoice once we have received the payment. There is an option to pay via PayPal, but there will be an extra charge of 3% to use this service.

The balance is due 4 weeks before the arrival date. If for any reason you have to cancel your booking, the following charges will apply:

  • 10-12 + weeks before your arrival date - 80% of what you have paid will be refunded to you

  • 8-10 weeks before your arrival date - 70% of what you have paid will be refunded to you

  • 6-8 weeks before your arrival date - 60% of what you have paid will be refunded to you

  • 4-6 weeks before your arrival date - 50% of what you have paid will be refunded to you

  • 2-4 weeks before your arrival date - 40% of what you have paid will be refunded to you

  • 1-2 weeks before arrival date - 20% of what you have paid will be refunded to you

  • 7 days or less prior to arrival date - No refunds

  • If you do not show up or leave the retreat early, there will be no refunds

WILL THERE BE A SAFE PLACE TO LEAVE MY BELONGS AT THE FIT RETREAT?

There will be a safe box in your room and a key to lock your door. Only the staff will have access to your room (cleaning purposes) See T&C on personal belongs.
